Global Challenges for Taiwan's Cities

As in many countries, a key determinant of Taiwan's economic, environmental and social futures lies with the ongoing health and sustainability of its major cities. As they are now is largely the result of economic forces dominating their local environments and their social lifestyles during the twentieth century. Today however there is evidence that all is not well, and increasingly they will come under challenge from changing regional economics and global environmental change impacts. The presentation will use Taichung as the example city at a more detailed level to suggest some of the foreseeable challenges that face Taiwan's younger generation in their urban lives during the twenty first century.
