Call for Papers:
National Chung-Hsing University (NCHU) in Taiwan, in collaboration with the University of California at Davis, will host an international conference on “Space and Time in Chinese-language Cinema” at the University of California, Davis, on November 5 and 6 (Friday-Saturday), 2010. The film conference will cover a wide range of topics and issues: urban space, rural space, landscape, nature, historical representation, memory, nostalgia, period film, film narrative, space-time compression in globalization, Deleuzian time-image, Bakhtinian chronotope, Benjaminian body-space, and so on.? Papers are solicited that explore relevant aspects in the Chinese-language films of Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, China, and the Chinese diaspora.? The conference will lead to the publication of an edited volume.? Interested participants are invited to submit a paper abstract (about 250 words) to Lin Jiann-guang (haydnlin@yahoo.com) and/or Sheldon Lu (shlu@ucdavis.edu) by May 15, 2010.
